Leader in Residence
Time and Space to Imagine What Comes Next
The GiveSankofa Leader in Residence is a funded residency that gives experienced leaders something they are rarely afforded: time, space, investment, coaching, and community to restore, reflect, and reimagine what’s possible next.
The residency is designed for leaders who may be navigating a transition, reimagining their leadership, developing an idea or body of work, recovering from an intense season of leadership, or simply asking a deeper question about what comes next.
What Residents Receive
Each residency is individualized and may include:
A residency grant
Executive coaching
Strategic advising
Space for restoration and reflection
Community and meaningful relationships
Time to research, write, create, explore, or simply think
The experience centers around four dimensions: Restore. Reflect. Reimagine. Contribute.
Residents do not arrive needing to have their next chapter figured out. The residency creates space to ask the questions that urgency often doesn't allow.

Sankofa BEE FREE Coaching
Expanding Access to Transformational Coaching
High-quality coaching can create powerful opportunities for reflection, growth, alignment, and leadership development. Yet access is often determined by income, employment, or organizational resources.
Through Sankofa BEE FREE Coaching, individuals can apply for coaching grants that provide access to high-quality coaching at no or reduced cost.
Coaching may support:

Leadership and personal growth
Sustainability and well-being
Life and professional transitions
Reflection and decision-making
Our goal is simple: to expand access to meaningful coaching so that the ability to invest in yourself is not determined solely by your ability to pay.

Our Journey
The Leader in Residence builds on GiveSankofa's earlier Community Healing Grant, which invested in people developing ideas and solutions to strengthen their communities.
We were honored to support four entrepreneurs through financial investment, coaching, and space to develop their work. What we learned reinforced something we continue to believe today: investing in the people carrying important ideas expands what becomes possible for them and their communities.
Those lessons helped shape the evolution of Leader in Residence—deepening our investment not only in what leaders create, but in the leaders themselves.
